One Day at a Time… Even During a Pandemic

One Day at a Time… Even During a Pandemic

With all the anxiety surrounding the coronavirus it can be really stressful for people in Recovery. Sobriety in our community is of the utmost importance when it comes to our day-to-day lives, especially at a time of intense stress or crisis. But the common question is how do we, as a community, continue to support each other during this time of social distancing and self-quarantining. Our community here at Longbranch would like to give you just a few examples of how we can successfully help those of our community and keep ourselves on the right path as well. While many cities are being forced to cancel AA meetings, we find ourselves in an unprecedented period of time for addiction treatment. We are finding ourselves avidly searching for ways to remain connected to each other by phone, text or email, but additionally we have the option to use platforms such as Zoom or Google Hangout in order to stay connected as well. These are just some options that can help. You can join in for an online AA intergroup or a local group called the Into Action Group who is posting meeting Monday- Friday at 8pm on Zoom.

Additionally, even in these uncertain times, Longbranch is still accepting new admins and will continue to take new admins. We are following all state and CDC regulations. At this stage we have banned all in person visitors who are nonessential to patient care, in order to be cautious to any contamination. Although, patients will have the ability to video conference with their sponsors and family members in lieu of the visitations. We will be continuing to do in house, phone and online AA meetings as discussed above. We are also screening all staff and delivery drivers for any symptoms or risk factors prior to their entrance onto the property. We will be wiping down all surfaces and objects used throughout the day and additionally keeping distance between patients and staff. If you have any questions or are looking for a more detailed description, please call us. Keeping our patients and staff safe are, of course, our main priority.

Although there is a large amount of stress at this time, do not hesitate to reach out for help if you or someone you love is struggling and in need. During times like these, our community will struggle, but there is still help out there – whether it be with us here at Longbranch, a sponsor or a friend. Through all the uncertainty, our community will continue to stand strong together and lend a hand one day at a time.
