Dr. Prasad joined is board certified in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine. She attended medical school at the University of Medicine & Health Sciences, St. Kitts & subsequently completed her residency at the Baton Rouge General Family Medicine Residency Program in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 2016. After several years of independent practice, Dr. Prasad decided to pursue her passion in addiction medicine with fellowship training at Tulane University. She is currently the second fellow and began the Addiction Medicine Fellowship in the summer of 2019. Dr. Prasad joined the Longbranch Recovery Center team in the beginning of 2020. She is grateful and excited to “work at a facility committed to helping those that are still sick and suffering achieve long-term sobriety” Though a new physician member to the American Society of Addiction Medicine, she attended the first-ever American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Chapter Leadership Summit in September of 2019 in Washington, DC. This event was followed by Capitol “Hill Day” where she advocated for expansion of addiction treatment and standardization of addiction medicine education in both the state of Louisiana and across the country. Dr. Prasad has recently accepted a position with the Louisiana Society of Addiction Medicine as Secretary in order to continue these efforts. She has also served on the Local Action Committee for the International Doctors of Alcoholics Anonymous and currently serves as medical director for two sober living facilities in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
